Why and how does Swiss Post do business abroad?

Swiss Post has increased its turnover outside Switzerland considerably and now generates almost a fifth of its total turnover abroad with close to 8,000 employees. Its primary goal is to strengthen Swiss Post in Switzerland.

Swiss Post has three main areas of business abroad: Swiss Post International and Swiss Post Solutions both operate in the logistics and communications market under the “Swiss Post” brand. In the public passenger transport market, PostBus operates abroad under the “PostBus” brand.

Swiss Post International provides daily cross-border delivery services for business mail. These are supplemented by direct marketing services, the distribution of newspapers and magazines and the shipment of small goods.

Swiss Post Solutions provides services that supplement the traditional postal business with new technology. These include dialogue solutions such as the production of mailshots and customer cards, digitization and document scanning, handling in-house mail and archiving services, plus comprehensive e-business solutions and advisory services.

PostBus operates several bus networks in France and one in Liechtenstein. In France, PostBus is concentrating on operating medium-sized urban/conurbation networks and on inter-urban routes.
