Delivery times: Letters and parcels delivered on time
In 2011, Swiss Post again achieved very high values in the punctuality of delivering letters and parcels. 97.5 percent of A mail letters and 99.3 percent of B mail letters reached their recipients in time. Swiss Post also achieved very good results for parcels: in 2011, 97.4 percent of all PostPac Priority and 97.7 percent of all PostPac Economy parcels were delivered in time. Swiss Post thereby exceeded the requirements of the Confederation and ranks amongst the top performers by international comparison.
Swiss Post processed some 2.3 billion addressed letters last year. 97.5 percent of A mail letters were delivered in time (2010: 97.2 percent). For B mail letters, a new record was set of 99.3 percent (2010: 98.5 percent). By investing in state-of-the-art technology and staff training, Swiss Post aims to ensure the reliability of the physical letter in the future too.
High level in parcel processing
Swiss Post processed more than 100 million parcels last year. The quality levels of the previous year were matched. In 2011, 97.4 percent of all PostPac Priority parcels were delivered to the recipient in time on the following day (2010: 97.7 percent). For Economy parcels, 97.7 percent were delivered in time (2010: 97.5 percent). These values indicate that the technologies used at Swiss Post’s parcel centres are amongst the most reliable and contemporary. To satisfy the needs of its customers to an even higher degree, some 350 additional post offices have offered the PickPost service since the beginning of the year. The PickPost office network thus has more than 700 access points.
Scientific and independent measurement
The values achieved with letter mail exceed the requirements of the Confederation, which stands at 97 percent of mailings delivered in time. Swiss Post also ranks amongst the top performers by international comparison when it comes to delivery time.
Some 80,000 letters are sent annually for the delivery time measurement of domestic letters. The measurements are conducted by GfK Switzerland AG, the independent market research institute, while the European standards are observed. A scientifically recognised sampling method is applied for the measurement of parcel delivery times. These measurements are also monitored by an independent body.
