It's worth asking
How can I help my daughter/son choose the right career?
Take an interest in your child's career options and find out more about his/her preferred career. We will provide you and your child with the necessary support to help you choose the right career path.
The following services are available:
- Extensive information on your preferred career
- Information events to introduce you to our products and services
- Advice via telephone on 0848 85 8000
When is the best time to submit an application?
Ideally your son/daughter should submit their completed application at the start of their final school year (August/September).
Applications may, of course, also be submitted at a later date. Please visit our website to find out more about our current apprenticeships.
Why does Swiss Post carry out a multi check/basic check?
These results provide us with useful information in addition to the school grades and trial apprenticeship report. The candidate's social/work conduct and the interview are also important factors. The interview stage is usually when we ascertain whether or not your son/daughter is suited to our company and vice versa.
As a parent, am I expected to attend the interview?
You will not be present at the actual interview. The people responsible for your child within the company will of course have the opportunity to meet you early on – at the first parents' evening, for example.
Is there not a danger that my daughter/son will simply get lost in the crowd given the size of a company such as Swiss Post?
We are one of the country's largest providers of apprenticeships and have established a professional vocational training system. During the course of his/her apprenticeship, your daughter/son will be mentored by the same person. Other advantages include:
- Contact with other apprentices ("Jump in" camp, volunteer week)
- Working in small teams
- Varied training programme (many vocations offer placements in other areas)
- Excellent future employment prospects with Swiss Post
- Best possible preparation for finding a job after completing the apprenticeship - either at Swiss Post or elsewhere.
Does Swiss Post support young adults who wish to obtain their school-leaving certificate?
Yes. Providing participants have passed their entrance examination, all those taking part in apprenticeships (with the exception of certified training schemes) will have the chance to obtain their school-leaving certificate. Our apprentices – who will attend vocational school approx. two days a week – can count on our full support with this.
