Electro-mobility

A low emitter on the road

Swiss Post is constantly expanding its fleet of electric vehicles, thereby becoming ever less dependent on fossil fuels and reducing its greenhouse gas emissions. The solution is particularly climate-friendly, as Swiss Post obtains all the electricity from renewable forms of energy.

When it comes to electro-mobility, Swiss Post is out in front: it currently has around 2000 electric scooters making deliveries, the largest fleet of its kind in Europe. By the end of 2012, over 4,000 electric two- and three-wheel scooters will be commissioned. This accounts for over half of the entire scooter fleet. By 2016, the entire Swiss Post scooter fleet will run on electric power, thus operating in an environmentally friendly manner.

Powered by lithium-ion batteries, the scooters produce no emissions and are virtually silent. The electricity they require comes entirely from renewable forms of energy. The electric scooters already save 1400 tonnes of CO2 a year. At two locations, Swiss Post is currently testing electric delivery vans for letter deliveries.
