Jobs in peripheral regions

Swiss Post employs staff in every region in Switzerland. It has consciously decided not to concentrate jobs in major conurbations.

Within its operating confines, Swiss Post takes account of regional concerns. We provide around 18,000 jobs in peripheral regions, thus helping to maintain the equilibrium between town and country.

Local jobs outside major conurbations

From a purely economic point of view, it would make sense for around one fifth of the jobs in peripheral regions to be concentrated more centrally. Despite this Swiss Post has, for example, located its customer service department not in major conurbations, but in Freiburg and Schaffhausen instead. PostFinance maintains operations centres in Bulle (FR), Bellinzona and Netstal (GL), amongst other places. When redesigning the letter sorting process, Swiss Post also created six logistics centres for letters in the regions, in order to distribute jobs better.

Promoting economically weaker regions

Swiss Post is convinced that strong local communities promote solidarity within our country. It therefore intends to remain a significant employer in peripheral regions. In the course of its economic development, Swiss Post plans to continue investing and creating jobs in peripheral regions.
