Addressing mailAddress layout as an efficiency factor
Addressing mail according to certain guidelines enables your letters to be processed efficiently. Observe these guidelines whenever possible. In doing so, you make a significant contribution which helps us to keep our service promise.
In order for us to process your letters efficiently and offer you value for money, we use the most modern processing technology available. However, automating our processes requires a certain amount of standardization in the address layout. It all runs smoothly when the address format conforms to the guidelines and the address details are correct.
The hallmarks of a perfect address are:
- Left alignment
- 3 to a maximum of 6 lines, no blank lines
- Full company name, last name and first name
- Complete street name and correct house number
- Correct P.O. box number for P.O. box addresses
- Correct postcode and complete place name
- No underlining or spaced letters
You can place the address to the left or right in accordance with your internal processes. If it is placed to the right, you have more space available for sender details or advertising logos.
You can find extensive information on addressing letters properly, together with examples, in the current “Briefe Schweiz” (letters in Switzerland) brochure.
