A link between the main shopping centres

The Frauenfeld main post office is situated between the two retail outlets "Schlosspark" (Coop) and the "Passage" (Migros) shopping centre, at the edge of the old town.

As a result of the letter and parcel post processing and the local telephone exchange being outsourced, considerable amounts of space became vacant in the Frauenfeld 1 main post office. The building structure, geared to the previous use, does not allow for this space to be managed in optimum fashion. In addition to the post office and the P.O. box area, only part of the space is occupied, and the property is significantly under-used. The rental spaces in the old building are rented to third parties.

Targeted development of the property will achieve a key link again at this central location between the main shopping centres in Frauenfeld.

Status of work

  • The internal project planning order has been approved, and the next planning step has been initiated.
  • Construction due to commence in 2013
  • Building ready for occupancy in 2015-16
